Can We Live Forever?

Inside this issue:

One of the greatest gifts that Yahweh has promised His people is eternal life.  But not       Live Forever?
just living forever—being happy forever too!  So how can we attain eternal life?       Which 1 should I...
        Be Active in living.
First, we must realize that it is a
free gift from Yahweh.  But He
"Make sure that

does not just give this gift to

Yahweh’s ways.
what you have,

for He Himself

A long time ago, when Yahshua
has said, 'I will

lived on the earth, a rich young
never desert

man young man asked Him, “How may I have eternal life?”  Yahshua answered, “Keep
you, nor will I

the commandments.”
ever forsake

you."

“But I have done that since my youth!” said the young man, “What else should I do?”
-Hebrews 13:5

Yahshua knew that the young man’s riches might be a hindrance.  So he simply told
him to give all his money to the poor.  The rich man’s face fell.  His riches were too
important to him.  Yahshua knew that the young man’s riches meant more to him than Yahweh.  Sadly, the young man walked away.  We can learn some very sobering lessons from this.  Yahweh wants our whole hearts.  We cannot just give Him a portion of our devotion.  Nothing must stand in the way of our relationship with Yahweh.

Like the rich young ruler, we should be willing to give up anything for Yahweh if He requires it.  For instance, if we know we should be nicer to our siblings, but don’t do it, we can be certain that Yahweh is not pleased with our unwillingness to follow His ways completely.

What else can we learn?  The Pharisees held powerful positions of leadership in Yahshua’s day, and they were always trying to trap Him into making a mistake so they could discredit the things He was saying.  They hated Yahshua because they felt the people were starting to follow Him while they, the

Pharisees, were losing the trust of the people.  They were hoping Yahshua would say something against Yahweh so they could put Him to death.  So one day they asked Yahshua, “What is the greatest commandment?”

“There are two,” replied Yahshua, “Love Yahweh with all your heart, soul, and mind.  And love other people as much as you love yourself.”  The Pharisees couldn’t find anything wrong with Yahshua’s answer, so this time their plan to trap Him did not work.  Let us never forget these two greatest commandments because we are expected to live by them too!

Another important principle Yahshua taught is forgiveness.  Yes, this is still expected of us today.  Are there people in your life that you have not forgiven?  If so, it is time to go to Yahweh in prayer to ask for help in obeying this.  Peter, one of the disciples, asked Yahshua, “How many times should I forgive a person who mistreats me—seven times?”

“No!” declared Yahshua, “Seventy times seven!”  This, of course, means that we must have unlimited forgiveness.  If Yahweh forgives us over and over again when we make mistakes, we must also do the same.

So what can we learn from all this?  First, we must give Yahweh our entire being when we decide to follow Him, never allowing anything to come between us and Him.  Second, we must love others as much as we love ourselves.  There is no room for selfishness or self-centeredness.  Lastly, we must always have the spirit (attitude) of forgiveness if we want Yahweh to continue forgiving us.  Let us practice random acts of kindness to others.  Not only will this make Yahweh happy, it will make us happy too, because doing good to others makes us feel good about helping people.  Pray daily that Yahweh will give you the strength to do all that He asks, so that when you are all grown up, you will still be one of His followers and be able to  enter His Kingdom and live forever in pure joy!
