      Isaac and Rebekah...
      You’re invited to the...
      The 10 Commandments

A long time ago, Yahweh gave Abraham and Sarah a special son in their old age, whom they named Isaac.  Now Isaac grew up in Canaan where Yahweh had led Abraham.  The Canaanites worshiped false deities.  Isaac was growing up and it would soon be time for him to marry.  Abraham was concerned that none of the women in Canaan worshipped Yahweh, so he sent his trusted servant back to his homeland to find a suitable wife for Isaac there.

And Yahshua said unto them, The sons of this world marry, and are given in marriage:

—Luke 20:34 ASV

The servant prayed diligently to Yahweh that the right bride be found.  Before he even finished his prayer, out came a beautiful woman named Rebekah to the well outside the city.  “Surely she is Yahweh’s answer to my prayer!” thought the servant.  Rebekah happily went back with him and married Isaac.  They loved each other very much.

Marriage is deeply symbolic.  One day Yahweh’s true people will be “married” to Yahshua!  We are training now to be His faithful Bride!

The Ten Commandments

Three months after the Israelites left Egypt they reached Mount Sinai. Moses climbed the mountain and Yahweh spoke to him.  The 10 Commandments were given and are written down today for our own good.

1.  We must have no other deities besides Yahweh.  This tells us that Yahweh must always come first in our lives.  Nothing must come between us and Him.

2.  We must not make graven images.  All the ancient pagans made idols of their false deities. We cannot do this with Yahweh—no one has ever seen Him, so we do not know what He looks like.

3.  We must not use His Name improperly.  Yahweh’s Name must always be Holy. We must show respect when using His Name and not hide it.

4.  We must keep the Sabbath day.  The Sabbath is special to Yahweh. We must honor Yahweh by refraining from our normal work activities on the seventh day.

5.  We must honor our father and mother.  Disobedience is not allowed. Yahweh expects everyone to show proper respect for their parents.

6. We must not murder. It’s important to not even think about doing it.

7.  We must be faithful in marriage.  Marriage is very important to Yahweh. Husbands and wives must always try to keep their marriages pure.

8.  We must not steal.  Stealing hurts everyone. People get in trouble when they steal.

9.  We must not tell lies.  Telling the truth is very important to Yahweh. All liars will be punished severely.

10.  We must not want things that do not belong to us.  We should be happy with the things that Yahweh gives us and not be jealous when we see other people with things that we don’t have.
