The Fifth Commandment

The fifth commandment tells us we are to honor our mothers and fathers.  What does it mean to honor our parents?  The word honor means to “hold in high esteem.”  Yahweh allowed you to be born to your parents and He expects you to obey them even when you don't feel like it.

      Walking in Yahshua's...

There is a special blessing attached to the fifth commandment.  We all want to live long, happy lives,  and we can do just that as Yahweh promised that our days would be long upon the earth if we honored our parents.

So how can you hold your parents in high esteem? Below are some good ideas to get you started:

1.  Always speak respectfully to your parents even when you are angry at them.

2.  Obey them at all times because Yahweh expects this of you. Your parents want what is best for you.

3.  Be a helper to your parents. Help mom set the table and dad clean the yard.  Think of other ways to help them!

4.  Always stay close to Yahweh in prayer and study and ask for His help in trying to honor your parents properly.

Walking in Yahshua’s Footsteps

Have you ever played the game where everyone tries to follow the leader’s footsteps?  It can be a hilarious experience because sometimes the leader will hop and jump, and twist and turn, making it difficult for those behind him or her to follow exactly.  Well, we are told that Yahshua is our leader and we need to follow His footsteps.  So how can we do this?

1.  Yahshua obeyed His Father and so should we.

2.  Yahshua loved people and we need to follow His example.

3.  Yahshua showed honor to His earthly mother and likewise we need to honor our earthly parents.

There are numerous ways in which we can “follow the footsteps” of Yahshua.  Below, mark the boxes that show ways to do the things that Yahshua wants:

  Being cruel

  Being helpful

  Being obedient

  Showing love to others

  Having a bad attitude

  Not teasing others

  Sharing your toys or books

  Playing nicely with others

  Yelling and name-calling

Lying to make yourself look good

  Being disrespectful

  Honoring our parents

  Working together to solve problems

Rainbow-Colored Message

There are many promises in the Bible and one of the most well-known is the rainbow.  Yahweh promised never to destroy the earth again by a flood and we are reminded of this every time we see a rainbow.  Most everyone enjoys seeing rainbows as they also remind us of Yahweh’s love for His creation.  We are also expected to love others too.  In order, these are the colors of rainbows: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet.  Follow this sequence and color the letter blocks below one at a time.  For example, color “L” red, the first “O” orange, “V” yellow, and so on, until you reach violet, then start from red again.
