Q. How does one count the Sabbaticals and Jubilees?

A. Leviticus 25:1-5 shows that when entering the land they would be in a Sabbatical year of rest. The next year would be year one for the counting process of Sabbaticals and Jubilees.

Leviticus 25:8-10 gives instructions for a Sabbatical-Jubilee count pattern: 1 (50),2,3,4,5,6,7. It does not say to count in increments of 50, but rather in increments of 7 (namely 49 to complete 7x7, verse 8). The pattern is the same as counting 7 complete weeks for Pentecost. 50 would still be the 1st of the week, the weekly pattern for counting a complete week being unchanged.
